For a couple years, I was part of the leading PvE progression guild on Aggramar. (Yes, this is World of Warcraft stuff.) We got most of the server-first kills — I think we were beat to only two or three in the time I was with them. Not that it was an extraordinarily competitive server, but for a casual guild with a relatively short raiding schedule, it felt like we were doing pretty well.
When Sunwell was released, I retired from raiding for a while, and eventually took a break from the game altogether. That was about two years ago.
Tonight, my new guild, on my new server, knocked over Professor Putricide in Icecrown Citadel for the first time, and I got to be there. Last week’s attempts were chaotic and kind of terrible; we didn’t get him down past 40%, and just couldn’t kill the oozes fast enough. This week, we were a well-oiled machine. Our first attempt failed at about 2% (we screwed up timing the entry into phase 3 and started it with an ooze up), but our second went perfectly.
It was a lot of fun. This is a much more casual guild — only one or two nights of raiding per week — so it’s not like we’re breaking any records, but we’re enjoying ourselves, and making progress. I missed that; it’s nice to be back in that part of the game.
